CHS and CMS Japanese Students Win Several Events at the Spirit of Japan Festival

Chesterton High School and Middle School Japanese students won multiple events in the Spirit of Japan Festival virtual competition which took the place of this year’s annual Japanese Olympiad of Indiana because of Covid.  The competition was hosted by the Association of Indiana Teachers of Japanese.  

Taking first in the art category was Jordan Foster, followed by Jesse Bouche in third.  In the music video category, Hannah Armstrong of CMS placed first and the combined CHS and CMS Japanese clubs placed third.  Three CHS juniors swept the rakugo comedic storytelling division.  Aidan Corral placed first, Addison Kellogg placed second and Ethan Adams was third.  Samuel Cooke won the haiku competition.  In the “how to” video category, Eric Sparks placed first and the team of Hannah Beadle and Lauren Bolla placed second.
