The La Porte County Historical Society is again offering calendars for sale in the gift shop. The theme for 2014 is “150 Years of the Civil War in La Porte County”. Included in the calendar are original photos from the archives of the Historical Society as well as photos from 6 years of reenactments held each summer on the museum grounds.
Each month represents a different aspect of the “War Between the States”, such as the different battles, camp life, fashion, and of course, the Civil War Ball. The photos are some of the best taken over the past 6 years. Photographers include Jim Plenus, Fern Eddy Schultz, Dennis Proud, and Susie Richter.
These will make wonderful Christmas presents for the history buff in the family or anyone who loves the history of La Porte County! The cost is still only $10.00 each.
The museum is open from 10:00a.m. till 4:30p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located at 2405 Indiana Ave. in La Porte, next to the round barn. Calendars may be reserved by calling 219.324.6767 and leaving a name, quantity, phone number or email address.
