Class of 1,014 to be Honored During 3 Purdue Calumet Graduations on May 8th & 9th

Purdue-Cal-Commencement-2014 1Purdue University Calumet is recognizing a spring graduating class of 1,014 candidates during three, campus Commencement Exercises Friday (5/8—6 p.m.) and Saturday (5/9—11 a.m. and 3 p.m.) in the Fitness & Recreation Center.

662 participating in 3 ceremonies
Some 662 candidates are expected to participate in the three ceremonies. Friday’s program features 209 prospective graduates of the university’s College of Education and College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences. Graduates of the Colleges of Business and Technology, totaling 250, are being honored during the Saturday morning ceremony. Some 203 candidates from the College of Nursing and College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science are being recognized in the afternoon.

Indiana State Representative from Schererville Hal Slager is Friday’s keynote speaker. Jeff Strack, Strack & Van Til’s supermarket chain vice president and Purdue Calumet MBA alumnus, is set to deliver both Saturday Commencement addresses.

1 associate, 790 baccalaureate & 223 master’s degrees
Overall, spring candidates are on track to earn 790 baccalaureate degrees, 223 master’s degrees and one associate degree, subject to satisfactory completion of course work this week.

Purdue Calumet Chancellor Thomas L. Keon will present a Chancellor’s Medallion to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average in each of the university’s six academic colleges. Other distinguished baccalaureate degree candidates also will be recognized.

Reception to follow
A reception for graduates, family, friends, faculty and staff will follow each graduation program in Alumni Hall of the Student Union & Library. This class increases to more than 52,000 the number of total degrees awarded at Purdue Calumet.
