Valparaiso residents Sara & Todd Wuenn gave birth to a son named Liam on October 28, 2011.
Liam was diagnosed with Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidney, and began Chemotherapy on July 21, 2012. On September 4, 2012, he had his left kidney and mass removed, but the cancer cells were resistant to treatment. As the disease spread, a new tumor started to develop when the previous tumor and kidney were removed, and Liam's only option did not involve a "cure" - only treatment.
After reading this sad news on Facebook, friends of Sara & Todd banded together quickly to organize the planning and funding of a trip to Disney for Liam, his parents and three-year-old sister. Their friends wanted to send the family on a vacation to enjoy what precious time they have left with Liam.
Through donations from an overwhelming amount of people via YouCaring.com and the help of Moustastic Vacations - The Wuenn family is GOING TO DISNEY!
A fundraiser will be held for Liam and his family on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Valparaiso Elks Lodge. The fundraiser will take place from 3pm to 10pm, and there will be great items available in the silent auction, including a painting by Jason Zaideman of Show Bound Kustoms, a hair cut and basket of assorted products from HollyLynn at Glamour Salon, Valparaiso, and one cake a month for a year from Suzie's Cafe, Valparaiso. Food and crafts for children will also be available.
