Jesus and motley band of disciples completed their journey to Jerusalem. Jesus completed His mission and redeemed us so we may rise with him and return to God. His disciples will start their mission to share the Word and share His love. Along the journey Jesus must have opened many doors for them. They must have gone in and out of many doors.
Today Jesus still opens doors for us. Our Church always has an open door for you, a door that has a mat that joyously says WELCOME HOME. Jesus original band of disciples were a “motley crew”. They doubted Jesus, they denied Jesus, They argued amongst themselves and jockeyed for position. But Jesus stuck with them and loved them. The one that denied Him three times He called a rock upon whom He would build His Church.
Just as the Apostles disappointed Jesus, they hurt each other. After Jesus’ death Peter and Paul hurt each other in arguments. But Jesus never stopped loving them and never closed doors on them.
In a few weeks we the community of St. Paul will host information sessions to welcome home people that have not practiced their faith as we are called to do. The sessions are to hear why the baptized do not feel welcomed. We will attempt to meet those who come where they are at and invite them to celebrate their faith in a way pleasing to them and God.
In the pews you will find invitations with the information about the program. Please take one for yourself or for someone you wish to invite home.
