Cooling centers have been opened in the following locations:
City Hall - 801 Michigan Ave - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Fire Station #2 - 115 East Shore Court
Settler House - 3304 Monroe St
Other public buildings such as the Library (business hours), the Hospital lobby (business hours) would be happy to assist.
Please pay special attention to the elderly and the very young. Water (hydration) is essential during long periods of extreme heat. Watch out for your pets....make sure they have plenty of water and shade.
As a good neighbor or loving relative, do a wellness check on older individuals or those with disabilities who may not be getting out. Drop in with an ice cold bottle of water, and your visit will be a welcome surprise! Those on upper floors with no air conditioning are particularly vulnerable. Let's watch out for each other!
