A familiar name in Indiana football circles is getting his first shot as a head coach.
At Monday night's John Glenn School Board meeting, the board unanimously approved the hiring of David Sharpe to be the program's eight coach all-time. Sharpe succeeds longtime coach Justin Bogunia, who stepped down after a 5-6 season a year ago and a career mark of 101-67.
Sharpe is the son of longtime Jimtown coach Bill Sharpe, who led the Jimmies to four state titles and six runner-up finishes.
David Sharpe comes over after spending the last several seasons coaching the defensive line. Glenn opens its season Aug. 23 at North Judson before hosting Jimtown Aug. 30.
