Dr. Frataccia Named 2014 District 1 Superintendent of the Year

Dr-FratacciaDr. E. Ric Frataccia, Superintendent of Portage Township Schools, recently received the honor of being named the 2014 District 1 Superintendent of the Year by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents. “He’s very committed to the kids,” stated Assistant Superintendent Mary Tracy-MacAulay. “This recognition is an honor for someone who has worked tirelessly for the kids to be successful.

Dr. Frataccia is one of eight superintendents honored with this award across the state. The winners are selected by other superintendents in the area, based on their qualifications and accomplishments. “He was nominated for what he has done in the district for turning student achievement around,” Tracy-MacAulay went on to say.

Among his numerous accomplishments serving as Portage’s superintendent since 2012, and as assistant superintendent beforehand, Frataccia has been instrumental at keeping Portage Township Schools at an “A” rating for the past three years. The graduation rate has also improved under Frataccia’s direction, with the class of 2013 offering a 92% graduation rate.

When not focused on the students of Portage Township Schools, Dr. Frataccia serves, along with his wife, as a representative for the United Way of Porter County, amongst other organizations. “He’s on every kind of community organization that I can think of,” shared Tracy-MacAulay. “He’s extremely committed to the community.”
