The electronics recycling trailer in La Porte has been moved down the road to the La Porte County Solid Waste District offices at 2857 W. State Road 2, the District announced Wednesday. The new hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“We’re glad to have it moved right outside our building because it means we can watch over the site better and keep it clean,” said Nancy McVay, the District’s recycling coordinator. “We’re very thankful the highway department was able to help us while it was located there.”
Electronics for recycling will no longer be accepted at the County Highway Department, so please do not leave items inside or outside their gate. The semitrailer used for electronics collection now sits between the Solid Waste District office and the Small Animal Shelter. Signage both at the old and new sites will guide residents where to go.
The electronics trailer will be locked for security purposes when the site is closed. Please do not leave items at the site outside of operating hours.
