Enchanted Backpack brings donation to Merrillville school

Merrillville Community School Corporation's Pierce Middle School was the recipient of $8,500 worth of supplies from Enchanted Backpack.

Two vans from the organization arrived yesterday filled with boxes and bags of items that included books, notebooks, construction paper, copy paper, crayons, dry erase markers and erasers, glue sticks, pens, pocket folders, pencil sharpeners, toothpaste, gloves and hats, sneakers, socks, and much more.

"This right here is a truly humbling experience," said Pierce Principal LaFonda Morris. "Who really ever gets anything for free? We got all of this stuff for free for our children. It makes you want to cry to see two vans roll in full of stuff, and all you really have to do is say 'thank you.' I'm really pleased to be the recipient of these materials for our students."

Enchanted Backpack is a 501(c)3 organization in Illinois that was started with the belief that all children deserve to have the tools they need to learn and excel and that all teachers deserve to have the support and materials to make their classrooms exciting learning centers.
