Family Express Raises Their Starting Wage to $11/HR

If you live in Northwest Indiana, then you’re familiar with the blue and white colors of Regioner’s favorite convenience store, Family Express. Founded in 1975 in Valparaiso, they’ve since expanded into the rest of Northwest and Central Indiana, with another 10 stores set to open soon.

Those that have been to their store know that they have always strived to provide excellent customer service, and this has been proven with the chain winning the 2015 Chain of the Year by the Convenience Store Industry.

Family Express not only takes care of their customers, but also its employees. They were one of the first businesses to raise the base pay for employees in 2015 and are continuing that trend in 2018, with an increase to an $11 per hour starting wage.

“We feel obligated to pass on a significant portion of the tax savings to our Staff. Our Employees are the ones that exemplify the unique brand promise that we extend to our Valued Customers day after day,” explained President and CEO Gus Olympidis.

This is on top of an already robust Benefits Package offered to Family Express employees. With outstanding health coverage, a 401(k) with employer matching, fitness services, and more, Family Express has proven that they’re worthy of being one of the top companies ranked in customer service and employee satisfaction.

“The higher starting wage, due to the permanent tax package approved by Congress, will be also be permanent,” said Olympidis.

Incredibly, this will also compliment the impressive Store Manager starting annual salary of $50,000. With incentives like this, coupled with the repeated accolades from other companies in the industry, Family Express is definitely cornering the market as the go-to employer of choice.
