Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company at Boston Middle School

Fiesta-Mexicana-Dance-Company-at-BMS-CollageIn honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Boston Middle School hosted the Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company on October 16 at 7 P.M.

The main purpose of this event was to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Throughout the show, the dancers had a variety of elaborate costumes that showcased the many different backgrounds of the Hispanic culture. President Ronald Regan expanded the Heritage celebration from September 15 to October 15. According to hispanicheritagemonh.gov, the appreciation of the heritage month is significant on September 18 because it is the anniversary of independence for many Latin American countries.

The Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company is based out of Phoenix, Arizona, and partnered with a local northern Indiana dance company. The two dance troupes combined their talent to put on a cultured show that many enjoyed. They have performed together for the past three years. The dancers’ ages ranged from five to adult, so the show was enjoyable for all ages.

“If you’re a dancer then you have to be disciplined, determined, and dedicated,” stated Christopher, a performer from Portage.

In addition to the free performance, this event also offered a free raffle. Quantae Tucker was the one fortunate enough to win. He was awarded with a $25 gift certificate to the Hacienda restaurant in Michigan City.
