Former Crown Point Councilwoman Recognized with Circle of Corydon Award

Former Crown Point Councilwoman Carol Drasga was presented with a Circle of Corydon Award for her years of dedicated service to the City of Crown Point.

Indiana state Rep. Julie Olthoff presented Drasga with the award during the Jan. 8 Crown Point City Council meeting.

“As a fellow woman elected official, she has really served as a role model to me and so many others,” Olthoff said of Drasga during the meeting. “I think we can all agree Carol has done a wonderful job as a successful leader. You can come and cast your votes and read your packets, but she went beyond that for the City of Crown Point.”

Drasga served on the Crown Point City Council for 20 years. She served on various boards and committees, including, but not limited to the Crown Point Plan Commission, the Crown Point Redevelopment Commission and the Crown Point Tree Board.

She also helped bring the Seward Johnson statues to the City of Crown Point, drawing thousands of visitors to the downtown square and Crown Point Sportsplex.

“I am very honored, but I consider it an honor and a privilege to not only be a citizen of Crown Point, but also to have served as a councilman,” Drasga said during the meeting.

The Circle of Corydon Award was established in 2017 to recognize Hoosiers who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana and its people, demonstrating through life and service qualities exemplified by the state’s greatest citizens.
