GreatNews.Life Student Voices: Crown Point High School celebrates Graduation

What’s recently happened?

Crown Point High School celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2024. The ceremony, held at the school's football stadium, was attended by hundreds of proud family members, friends, and community members who came together to honor the achievements of this year's graduates.

After successfully completing the last four years of high school, graduates now face the question, what’s next?

“I’m so excited for the next four years. I’m happy to be able to go on after college to help people, and I couldn’t have done it without all of the wonderful staff and teachers at Crown Point,” senior Melaina Adamovic said.

Adamovic is going to Indiana University Bloomington, and she plans on becoming a nurse.

“I’m feeling very bittersweet as I enter the next chapter of my life. Although change is scary, I know I am prepared for what is to come. In high school, I learned how to properly manage my time, which will make my life easier when I go to college,” senior Ella Depta said.

Delta plans on attending Purdue University to study business.

“I feel very good and excited about entering the next chapter of my life. I feel high school has helped me understand how important and meaningful a job can be for someone,” senior Reme Solis said.

Solis will attend Purdue University Northwest to study business and management.

The past years have taught students the importance of responsibility and leadership. Because of the values they have learned during their time at high school, graduates can say with confidence that they are ready for what comes next.

What’s coming up?

As summer unfolds, many students at Crown Point High School are using their break not just for relaxation but also to get a head start on their college applications. With the pressures and deadlines of senior year looming, these proactive students are taking advantage of the quieter summer months to prepare their applications, write essays, and gather necessary materials.

The college application process has become increasingly competitive, with students trying for spots at top universities and colleges. Recognizing the importance of a strong application, many Crown Point High School students are dedicating part of their summer to ensuring they stand out.

While the focus on college applications is significant, students are also finding time to enjoy their summer. Many are balancing their application work with part-time jobs, internships, volunteer work, and leisure activities. This balance is crucial for maintaining well-being and avoiding burnout. For many students, summer is the ideal time to focus on their essays, a critical component of the college application. Without the distraction of daily schoolwork, they can devote the necessary time to reflect on their experiences and articulate their goals and aspirations.
