Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso brought merry cheer to its customers by hosting its annual Customer Christmas Party. In true party form, there were snacks, drinks, and even an ugly sweater contest.

“This time of the year gets hectic,” said General Manager Jeff Haggerty. “It’s crunch time for many, so we just wanted to say thank you to the customers and invite them in for some refreshments.”

To help make the season even less hectic, those making gift purchases were able to have their presents wrapped at the complimentary gift wrapping station.

With many people social distancing or isolating, Haggerty was even more appreciative of those who come into the store. He and the team personally greeted each customer and gave a warm welcome.

“It’s hard these days with many people shopping from home, it makes it difficult to connect with people. We want to give them a reason to come on down and connect,” said Haggerty.

It is the connection with customers that employee Mark Virkler enjoys the most while working at the Harley-Davidson Valparaiso store.

“Every one of them is very nice,” said Virkler.

Virkler has gone so far as to dress up as an elf in tights last weekend to help Santa greet the customers he enjoys so much.

MJ Jackson has worked for Harley-Davidson Valparaiso for the last year.

“Today’s event is really nice. I always enjoy when we can do things for customers,” said Jackson.

Glenda and Fred Hopp heard about the party through email. In addition to it being Glenda’s birthday, the couple were purchasing Christmas gifts for each other.

“We bought each other shirts,” said Glenda Hopp. “This event is just really nice!”

While shirts, sweatshirts, and hats are the most popular Christmas gifts purchased, Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso confirmed they have sold motorcycles this month destined to be presents that likely fit won't under a tree.

“Selling Harleys is all about making dreams come true,” said Jackson. “If it is not during Christmas, then when is a better time?”For store holiday hours or for information on upcoming events, visit  https://www.hdvalpo.com/
