Health Dept staff fills critical need over holiday

The staff of the Porter County Health Department is giving their time over the New Years holiday to offer COVID-19 testing at the Porter County Expo Center on Thursday December 30th and Friday December 31st. The short notice testing hours were added in response to the very high demand for testing after Christmas. With the help of the Indiana National Guard, over 1800 tests were done at the Expo Center between December 27th and December 29th, and the need for testing continues to be great. Dr. Maria Stamp, Porter County Health Officer, praised the group. " I am so proud of our dedicated health department staff. They continue to rise to the occasion and provide critical services to the community, almost two years into this pandemic." The test site will be open from 9-4 in December 30th and 9-2 on December 31st.
