Heckler: Thank You for Celebrating Valpo’s Special Relationship with Northwest Indiana

On behalf of the Valparaiso University community, I would like to express our gratitude to the many residents of Northwest Indiana who participated in our first Communiversity Day on Saturday, Sept. 18. Thank you for joining our students, faculty, staff and alumni in making this celebration of Valpo’s special relationship with Northwest Indiana a historic and memorable event.

Many of our student-athletes have expressed to me how much they appreciate the support of Crusaders fans in Northwest Indiana, and volunteers at the Valparaiso University Day of Caring have shared stories about how meaningful service work in the community is as part of their Valpo experience.

We deeply value our role as a community resource for education, service, culture, music, athletics and entertainment, and we will continue to strengthen our many partnerships within the region. This close-knit relationship with Northwest Indiana is something we value tremendously and we look forward to celebrating Communiversity Day with the region again in 2011.

Valpo and Northwest Indiana share an exciting future, and together we are making our region a wonderful place to live, work and study.

Sincerely,

Mark A. Heckler
President
