Officer Erik Herbert presents fourth-graders at Merrillville's John Wood Elementary School with lessons on the effects of tobacco and vaping usage the week before Red Ribbon Week. The Hobart police officer visits the school's two classes once a week and presents different lessons over a 10-week period. Not only does the program provide great information to students, his visits help to build positive lasting relationships between children and the police.
