IU Northwest’s Economic Development Academy returns in January

New sessions to focus on economic development financing: tax structure and policies, benefit-cost analysis, business incentives and financing

The highly regarded Economic Development Academy (EDA), led by Indiana University Northwest School of Business and Economics, returns in January with a hybrid, in-person and virtual training program focused on regional economic development.

The seven-week program, which runs Jan. 15 through Feb. 26, will connect economic development approaches with practice using current research, case studies, guest speakers and lively discussions.

The program will focus on connecting multiple areas of economic development, including:

  • Tax structure, local public services and incentives policies - Review of tax objectives, administration and types to encourage regional economic growth.
  • Benefit-cost analysis - A primer on analyzing the benefits and cost of policy decisions. How to calculate the net benefits of such policies.
  • Business incentives and financing - Review of best practices in policy and tax incentives to promote investment and growth.
