Jamie Pritchard-Edwards Educates Families with the Center for Hospice Care

The Center for Hospice Care has so many compassionate people working within their facilities to aid them in caring for hospice patients. As they prepare to open a new facility in La Porte, it’s an exciting time to look toward some of the employees who will be responsible for making that facility as wonderful as their others.

Jamie Pritchard-Edwards is one such employee who has been working with the company since December of 2017. Serving as the Professional Business Liaison, her role will be to work with the community to build relationships and educate them about what services hospice care can offer to patients.

“I think one of the nicest things is that I get to meet with families and educate them in how hospice has evolved and changed,” explained Pritchard-Edwards. “The philosophy has changed and it’s nice to educate people on that.”

With over a decade of experience as a nurse, Pritchard-Edwards has worked in many areas of the field, from the ER to extended care facilities. Transitioning over to hospice, she explains, was a way for her to continue helping people and making a big impact in their lives. Center for Hospice Care was the perfect location, as they’ve been sure to continue helping and supporting not only patients, but families as well.

“You can still do this in the nursing field and make a difference in someone’s life, and not just the patient, the family and everyone involved,” said Pritchard-Edwards. “The center for hospice care really embodies a lot of that and they’ve thought of everything, from the amount of services that they can offer, community, they’ve even worked with kids and with pets. It’s just that they really have a good touch on the whole hospice philosophy.”

As someone who has spent many years in the medical field, she’s happy to be settling in at the Center for Hospice Care. Though they have multiple facilities and a large number of patients, the level of care and concern is like that of a family, and everyone is welcome.

“We are bigger than some, but we have that small town feel, you’re very close to people,” explained Pritchard-Edwards. “It’s a first name basis place and I like that type of smaller, family atmosphere. If something is happening, we all support each other. It’s not just employees who have been here for years and years, it’s new employees as well.”

While Pritchard-Edwards is newer to the Center for Hospice Care, the positive atmosphere and ability to help those in need has her excited to continue work there. Boasting years of experience in La Porte County, she’s excited to reach out and begin building the community partnerships needed to help the new facility thrive.
