Position Summary:
As a Medication Assistant, you will partner with caregivers, CNAs, and clinical leaders with the goal of providing best in class care and hospitality to our residents. Medication Assistants will fully understand the comprehensive care plan for each resident in order to understand the reason "why" for each medication and PRN. The Medication Assistant will also work alongside caregivers to ensure our residents' needs and wants are fulfilled in a timely manner.
What you will be doing:
- Providing residents with medication administration and treatment assistance and services according to the health care provider's orders.
- Adhering to the narcotic and PRN policy of Aviva Senior Living.
- Reporting any changes in residents' physical condition and/or behaviors.
- Maintaining resident records regarding medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents, and observations.
- Following the schedule of resident's needs set out by supervisor.
- Providing emotional and social support to residents.
- Adhering to all policies and procedures of the community.
- Fulfilling other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Regular and predictable attendance daily.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Certified in the applicable state to pass medications in the work setting.
- One to two years of related work experience preferred
General Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Skilled in caring for residents with memory impairments and secondary diagnosis.
- Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of state regulations
- Ability to read and write in English
