Joe Lawrence is ready to help you find the perfect paint job with CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana

A person’s home is one of the most important assets they can own, so when it comes to house-based projects, working with someone you can trust is of the utmost importance. While Residential Sales Consultant Joe Lawrence has only been with CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana since February, he has plenty of experience working to exceed customer expectations.

Lawrence began his career in the food service industry, working his way up to management and marketing. This role saw him working at building relationships with his clients, so when the time came to change careers after 30 years, the opportunity to continue building relationships was important to Lawrence’s decision. CertaPro proved the perfect place.

“I was working for a marketing company out of DeKalb, Illinois, specializing in working with small businesses to get their marketing together,” Lawrence said. “It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, so I kept looking and saying, ‘If there's a job that pops up, and it looks good to me, I'm going to take a look at it.’ That led me to CertaPro.”

Thanks to his years of experience in both management and sales, Lawrence was able to fit seamlessly into his new role as a residential sales consultant. Lawrence is able to directly interact with CertaPro’s customers and provide them with price estimates on-site for potential jobs. Seeing how important a home can be to a customer, it’s a role Lawrence takes very seriously.

“I get to meet a lot of tremendously nice people who just want their house to look better,” Lawrence said. “They are just so welcoming to me, and my favorite part of the job so far has been getting into these homes, talking to these people, and having them sign right on the spot to get them scheduled for a paint job.”

Lawrence’s position with CertaPro goes beyond just helping customers find the perfect paint job. The company is also very actively involved in the community. Recently, CertaPro participated in the Porter County Home and Remodeling Expo, giving folks throughout the Region the chance to see what CertaPro can do.

“We were in the expo over the whole weekend,” Lawrence said. “We were able to show customers what we have and what we can offer them.”

The move has also helped Lawrence maintain his hobbies. With the Region’s selection of golf courses and hiking trails, Lawrence is able to stay active. Additionally, he and his wife like to travel to state parks throughout the Midwest to hike whenever a change of scenery is needed. Lawrence is also able to indulge in antiquing, with finds from across the country, including a trumpet from a renowned Mishawaka jazz musician. 

Customers are in good hands with Lawrence; he feels right at home helping customers match their home to their tastes. When he does run into a situation where he needs support, his coworkers at CertaPro are there to help. After decades spent in big corporations, Lawrence is happy to be somewhere he feels like family.

“Moving from a big marketing company to a place where they really take care of you and want you to succeed has been incredibly rewarding,” he said. “CertaPro has a really good support system and offers coaching and other great resources to make this job work for you. I really appreciate that.”
