Greiger Motors has been one of the biggest Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM dealerships in the nation for more than half a century. Serving customers in Valparaiso and throughout Northwest Indiana, the dealership takes pride in treating their customers to quality services.
Joe Luciano, service manager at Grieger’s Motors Sales, is a team member who values the customer above all. As one of the most experienced members of the team, he has worked with a plethora of customers since he first joined the dealership.
Luciano moved to Valparaiso when he was 14 years old. He got started with Grieger’s Motor Sales at 16 years old. Two years later, he graduated from Valparaiso High School.
He started out as a car washer. Luciano had to manage several responsibilities before he became a service manager.
“Early on, I was a lot attendant,” Luciano said. “I kept working through the back end of school. Once I graduated, I became a service advisor and a dispatcher for the tech missions. When we opened up a night shift, I ran that for 12 years. At one time, we were open until 3 a.m. It was a great thing for the community and something that I’m sure most of them still remember.”
Luciano continued his work for another decade until 2008 when he was promoted to service manager. He understands the importance of finding good people who come into their workplace and keeping them as happy customers for the long term.
“I work on all aspects and see people almost every day who come into Grieger’s Motor Sales,” Luciano said. “I’ve seen some of them downtown. My daughter is a part of the Valparaiso Swim Club and I’ve even seen some of our customers in the stands for those events. We want to do a great job and keep a good reputation in the community because our customers are everywhere.”
While he has spent more than three decades with Grieger’s Motor Sales, becoming a service manager for the company wasn’t something that Luciano saw coming at a younger age. However, he quickly came to realize that this was his calling card of what he was destined to do.
“It’s funny because a lot of the people who I’ve worked with at the car dealership don't have that vision from the start,” Luciano said. “It often just works out that way. Grieger’s Motor Sales has been a great place for me to work, which is why I’ve been here for 31 years. It’s a family-oriented work environment. I grew up and went to school with the owner’s kids. When I walked into the door, it became a home of opportunities for me throughout the years.”
Now with a position in management, Luciano runs the fixed operations and the back side of the dealership.
Luciano has had the luxury of working with many of his co-workers for more than 20 years together at Grieger’s Motor Sales. From the tech team to the sales and parts department, this has become a comfort place for him.
Outside of work, Luciano’s favorite hobby is being a father. Spending time with his kids and family gives him the most pleasure when he isn’t on the clock.
“I have two little girls, and both of them are in sports,” Luciano said. “One of them is in gymnastics and the other is in swimming. That’s what I spend pretty much all of my time doing when I’m off work.”
Grieger’s Motor Sales has an experienced team filled with employees who are motivated to support their customers and other local organizations. Team members like Luciano have a passion for building relationships with customers through the quality services they provide.
