Crown-Point-High-School-Teacher-of-Year-Group-2015In January the Crown Point Community School Corporation began accepting nominations for the “Teacher of the Year” who will serve during the 2015-2016 school year.

Students, former students, parents, colleagues, administrators, or members of the general public may nominate a CPCSC teacher and/or classified employee. There is no limit to the number of teachers or classified employees a person may nominate, but nominations must have been received by March 2nd.

A selection committee made up of CPCSC administration and community members narrow the nominations. The selection committee interviews and evaluates the final nominees and select a winner for each category. Winners were announced at the School Board meeting in May.

Crown Point High School Art teacher, Karen Cox, was selected as the Crown Point Community School Corporation secondary “Teacher of the Year”. Before the announcement was made public, Dr. Eineman, CPCSC Superintendent, made a surprise visit to Crown Point High School to award the banner to Mrs. Cox. Her daughter Lindsay Cox and multiple students were in on the surprise and arranged for her parents to be there to witness her expression when she realized she was the teacher selected. They all enjoyed refreshments to celebrate this honor.
