From singing songs to servicing vehicles, Kristina Melago is devoted to all of her crafts. As a Service Advisor at Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM of Highland, she has stayed committed to helping customers who need vehicle assistance.
Melago started at Thomas Dodge approximately a year ago in the service department. Previously, she held a Service Advisor position at another company. Through both, she has learned many valuable lessons that she applies each and every work day.
“Always smile, take care of the customer, be attentive to their needs, and always have good customer service overall,” she said.
At Thomas Dodge, some of Melago’s daily tasks include greeting customers as they enter the dealership, retrieving vehicle information that is pertinent to the service, including what repairs need to be made to vehicles as well as running diagnostics. She also performs normal maintenance, like oil changes, when needed.
Melago’s favorite part of the day is sending her customers home with their repaired vehicle. Lifting the weight off of their backs is something she takes notice of, leaving a smile on customers’ and Melago’s faces.
“My favorite thing is definitely when the customer comes to pick up their car or truck happy,” she said. “It’s always an accomplishment.”
To ensure that customers are getting the service they need, Melago advises them to get to know their vehicle once it is in their hands. By reading the owner’s manual and learning about the services that their vehicle will need down the road, Thomas Dodge will be able to provide the best care and be there every step of the way.
“We want to make sure they get the maintenance that they need,” she said.
Over the course of her year at Thomas Dodge, Melago says she is continuously building her rapport. She prioritizes loyalty with her customers so they can have an advisor they trust.
“I do have some regular customers that come in and specifically come in and ask for me,” she said. “I’m fairly new to the game, but I’m making a name for myself.”
Melago has already made a name for herself in music, specifically at Winamac High School. There, she was named MVP of the choir, and she was featured on South Bend’s local television station for her singing during her teenage years. She also used to sing for weddings and funerals.
“It’s mostly karaoke these days or just singing to myself around the house,” she said.
In addition to singing, Melago loves to be outdoors and garden. She also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend.
Melago is also appreciative of her work family, one that helps her push through any challenges she faces and supports her with any project.
“It’s a great team of service advisors, our sales department is awesome, as well as the rest of our team,” she said.
Thomas Dodge hasn’t just provided Melago with a career, but it has provided her with a career that she expresses with a new level of gratitude.
“I think this is the best job I’ve ever had honestly, the comradery between everyone here is pretty phenomenal.”
Outside of the workplace, Thomas Dodge has set Melago up for success as she takes advice that she’s picked up around the dealership and applies it to everyday life.
“Be prepared. Stay positive,” she said.
