La Porte County Public Library In Compliance With Standards

lpc-libraryLa Porte County Public Library has been confirmed to be in compliance with Public Library Standards by the Indiana State Library. La Porte County Public Library has focused on meeting the standards in order to provide high quality library services to the La Porte County community.

The Indiana Public Library Standards Committee was commissioned in 2009 to revise Indiana’s out-of-date public library standards with new standards that ensure Indiana’s library community would remain a national leader in the provision of library services to residents. The standards are based on best practices for public libraries of all sizes.

The standards also acknowledge the role of modern technology in libraries in order to provide the community with excellent library services. This means the library provides computers and internet access to the public and offers downloadable materials such as eBooks and eMusic to residents. Traditional library services, such as offering print books for checkout and programs like Summer Reading Program are still a big part of the standards.

The Main Branch of the La Porte County Public Library is located at 904 Indiana Avenue in La Porte. Other library locations include Coolspring, Rolling Prairie, Fish Lake, Kingsford Heights, Hanna, and Union Mills. The La Porte County Public Library also has a mobile library which travels throughout La Porte County.
