La Porte High School Mentor Program Beginning, Looking for Potential Mentors

laporte-slicersA mentor program has begun at La Porte High School with a new coordinator looking for those interested in serving as "Slicer Champions" or mentors. This is designed to reach those students who may have struggles in school, may have fallen behind in their grades and may be in jeopardy of not graduating on time or may have not graduated and want to receive their diploma and have become a 5th Year Senior or are in what they call grade 13. The program is looking to recruit mentors who will begin in October.

The mentors will meet with their mentees one hour per week either during the lunch hour or their resource hour. The coordinator, Bert Sappenfield is willing to talk to anyone who is interested in participating in the program. To reach Bert, email bsappen@comcast.net or call 219.608.1104.
