As the La Porte Jaycees are celebrating 70 years of service to the community, they are also preparing for their annual Fourth of July events.
To kick off the events, the Jaycees will host their annual Arts & Crafts Festival on June 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The festival will take place next to the Farmer's Market in Downtown La Porte. Come down for a day of fun with crafts from local vendors and games for the kids!
The Red Wine and Brew fest will take the place of the annual Beer Barns this year. The July 3rd event will feature four of Nashville’s hottest rising stars and will have a tastings for craft breweries and wineries. Proceeds will go to the La Porte Sheriff, Police, Fire, and EMS Departments and the La Porte Jaycees. To learn more about this new event, visit www.redwineandbrewlaporte.com.
On the Fourth of July, the Jaycees will start events with its annual parade starting at 10:00 a.m. This year marks the 70th parade, and it is also the bicentennial year of Indiana’s statehood. The theme of the parade this year is Pride in Our Past, Faith in Our Future.
Later in the night, the Jaycees will have a fireworks celebration at the La Porte County Fairgrounds. The show will begin at dusk, and admittance is $5 per carload or $1 per walk-in. This year's show is presented by ACE Pyrotechnics. Activities will start earlier in the evening including food vendors, bounce houses, the La Porte Fire Department E.D.I.T.H. House, a National Guard display, and more.
