At the 2016 Year End Convention for the Indiana Junior Chamber on March 4th, the La Porte Jaycees were awarded Chapter of the Year, Outstanding Growth, and Year-to-Date Growth from the statewide organization. Both growth awards were given after the local chapter saw some of its largest growth in recent memory- over 60%. The La Porte Jaycees also received the Chapter of the Year award for their ability to engage members and expansion of existing and new projects.
Carrie Campbell, three-term president of the La Porte Jaycees, stated in response to the recognition, “We are incredibly honored to have been recognized for our hard work and dedication to the community by the Indiana Junior Chamber. Our recent growth is directly attributed to the quality of individuals we are retaining in our organization, the passion these individuals have for the community, and the love we share for La Porte. We firmly believe that service to humanity is the best work of life!”
Sentiments were continued by Ross Ratliff, 2017 Indiana Junior Chamber president and member of the local La Porte Jaycees chapter. Ratliff added, “Awards and recognition is a key element of the Indiana Junior Chamber’s Year End Convention. Each year, local chapters are awarded based on various achievements. These achievements showcase what each chapter in the state of Indiana is doing within their communities and with membership growth. As the 2017 State President of the Indiana Junior Chamber and a proud member of the La Porte Jaycees, being able to bring home three awards for our accomplishments in 2016 was a great moment for our chapter. We are doing amazing things and it is always great to have those efforts recognized at the State level.”
The La Porte Jaycees organization was founded in 1946 and has a mission to build the skills and networks of their young professional members through service to the community. Potential new members who believe that “Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life” are always sought.
