La Porte Service League Provides Student Dental Education

La-Porte-Service-League-Provides-Student-Dental-Education-2017More than 450 local preschool students learned the benefits of caring for their teeth through recent presentations by La Porte Service League members.

The League is an independent women’s organization that seeks to enrich the La Porte area with community assistance programs, youth outreach and the arts.

Through support of grants from Bethany Lutheran Church and the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” program, the League purchased toothbrushes, flossers, and toothpaste to give to each preschooler in the La Porte Community School Corporation, plus other area preschool and daycare classrooms.

The fun, interactive presentation included a skit featuring the “Tooth Fairy,” her buddy “Flossie,” and a Service League helper. Students in 22 classrooms at 13 schools benefited from the dental health information, presented by eight La Porte Service League volunteers
