The Lake Central Indians baseball team hosted the Merrillville Pirates this Wednesday night. The Indians started the night off strong with three runs in the bottom of the first, scoring another run at the bottom of the second.
In the bottom of the third, a few impressive hits allowed the Indians to score run after run, while an superb defense prevented the Pirates from scoring any runs. The winning score of the night for the Indians was 10-0. Head coach of the Indians Mike Swartzentruber commented on the win.
“I thought we played well,” Swartzentruber said. “We didn’t make any errors, so that’s good. Our pitchers threw strikes. That’s been a concern for us recently, walking too many hitters, but we didn’t walk any tonight. Obviously we hit the ball; 12 hits, 10 runs, it was a solid game.”
