Laps 4 Learning Walk-A-Thon Held at Northview Elementary School

Despite the weather on Thursday, September 16, 2010 - Northview students were determined to walk laps to raise money to support their school.laps-for-learning-09 The entire student body participated in this great event that not only supports and practices the importance of physical fitness, but raises funds to support their school. Students filed out of the building excitedly and began to "warm up" by doing a variety of stretches. Students wore cards that would be marked for each lap they completed. There were three different courses set up for the different grade levels. The 4th and 5th grades tackled the "big" course which went around the entire school building! Many volunteers came out to cheer the walkers on and help record the laps students completed. There was great energy as students walked for their school. You could witness the energy through the many "high 5"; exchanges, words of encouragement, teachers and parents walking together with students. You could hear students excited as they shouted out to friends..."What lap are you on?" or "I'm on my 9th lap?" or "How many have you done so far?" This event showed true school spirit! Great job Northview Elementary!
