Mr. Ken Layton will be the featured speaker for the Tuesday, December 9th Lunch With the League.The League of Women Voters of LaPorte County meets at Noon at Lindo's Restaurant, 3940 Franklin Street, Michigan City. All are welcome to join the League of Women Voters at our monthly program.
Mr. Layton has spent 46 years of his life in public service. He retired at the end of 2012, when he completed a term as LaPorte County Commissioner. Ken joined the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department in 1968. He was elected twice to the office of Sheriff, serving from 1987 to 1995. In 1997, Ken was elected Auditor of LaPorte County and served two terms. After serving his terms as Auditor he was elected to the position of LaPorte County Treasurer. In 2009 Ken was elected to serve as a LaPorte County Commissioner. He retired as an elected official at that time. However he continues to work for the citizens of LaPorte County as a Consultant for LaPorte County Government. He is still making LaPorte County a better place to live.
Reservations are not required. Attendees purchase the lunch of their choice from the menu. Lunch with the League presents timely and relevant discussions about local issues every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Noon.
