Levin Tire & Service Center’s newest Crown Point location is officially open and ready for business. Located at 275 S. Superior Drive, the new center opened its doors to the public on Monday, July 1, and now offers a variety of services to help keep vehicles in tip-top shape across Lake County and beyond.
“We positioned ourselves to do basically everything except body work – other than that, we can do anything,” said General Manager Jeffery Russell. “We can do engine replacement; we can do brakes, alignments, tires, or a full service shot – light bulbs, heat, air conditioning, we can do it all. I have two master technicians here who I brought over from my other location, and we're in really good shape for handling these services.”
While this center officially opened in 2024, this new location has been over 10 years in the making – Levin Tire first purchased the 22 acre lot about a decade ago with a feeling that the area would soon be a prosperous hub in the years to come. Their predictions were spot on, and now the service center is the newest addition to an ever-growing community of new subdivision developments, businesses, and much more right in the heart of Crown Point.
“We bought this corner 10 plus years ago with anticipation that the area was going to grow and really explode in this area here – and that was before they even had the turn off of I-65 over there,” Russell said. “Shortly after we bought the property, the I-65 corridor was set up and we felt very comfortable that this area was going to really grow. We're trying to do a professional aftermarket - it’s where I’m really positioning the company – and there's not really a whole lot of other competitors around here, so we think we should do well with that.”
In addition to its prime location, this Crown Point shop is also bigger than other locations and hosts 10 bays for service. This guarantees the crew can work on more vehicles at any given time and get them back on the road at a quicker rate than ever before.
“This is definitely a bigger shop – we can handle a lot more cars now. Having this shop here is going to be great for Crown Point,” said Automotive Technician Trevor Haemker.
A lot has factored into bringing the new location to life, from finding the perfect location to marketing to getting every detail just right from start to finish. However, years of hard work have finally come to fruition, and the team is beyond excited that opening day is finally here.
“My wife asked me this morning if I was nervous. I said I'm not nervous – there's always a fear you open the door and that can be one car, but we’re doing well today already, so we know everything's going to be fine,” Russell said. “It's exciting stuff, and you can just see all that energy in the building. It's a good feeling because when you're building it's just all empty in your walls echoing. Now we actually have cars and people here, so hopefully we got it right, but I think we’re off to a great start.”
Now that operations are officially in place, Levin Tire can continue bringing its top-tier service to Crown Point and the surrounding areas. When customers stop in, they’re in for quality, reliable service to help them find the solutions they need, no matter the issue or problem they may bring to the table.
“I think the Crown Point community will benefit from having us here because we’re reliable,“ said Assistant Manager Matt Mazur. “We’re very honest here, and we don't try to mess around or anything like that. We always make sure that we are there to help our customers at the end of the day.”
The team, in turn, loves that they can further immerse themselves in the Crown Point area and all the wonderful aspects it has to offer. Many of the crew also live in the area, so it’s an even greater honor knowing they can continue to bring Levin Tire’s quality service to their hometown and a place near and dear to their hearts.
“It’s a great feeling knowing that opening day is finally here,” said Service Manager Mark Nosich. “Both Matt and myself live within minutes of here, so this is our community. We're happy to actually be home and be a part of it.”
Just a few hours in, and the new location had already hit the ground rolling. A handful of cars were already in the bays for service upon seeing the facility was open, and customers new and old were walking in to say hello and introduce themselves to the crew with smiles on their faces. Moving forward, Levin Tire is driven to keep that momentum going, and doesn’t plan on hitting the brakes anytime soon.
“My approach for my staff is let's just leave it all on a table,” Russell said. “It's my job to pick the location, and it’s my job to build a building and take care of advertising, but I just think we're in a good position here. I have all the peace in the world in this spot we have right here. And we have a lot of other lots here that are already sold, and even more businesses coming over here soon. That’s why I just want to leave it all on the table and just do what we do. There's only one person that could stop us, and that's us, so we think we're going to do exceptionally well here. It may take some time, but we’ll definitely get it to where we want it to be.”
