Local Communities Receive nearly $4 million in Road-Funding Grants

Communities in Senate District 5 will receive nearly $4 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since it was put into place, the program has awarded more than $830 million in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 5, the following communities received grants:

  • Hebron received $392,545.87;
  • Kouts received $186,831;
  • LaPorte County  received $996,974.99;
  • Porter County received $625,262.50;
  • Pulaski County received $388,912.50;
  • Rensselaer received $739,599.23
  • Starke County received $33,750;
  • Valparaiso received $422,822.28; and
  • Wanatah received $153,033.

The CCMG serves as an important resource that provides communities across Indiana with the opportunity to advance local infrastructure. I am pleased to see so many of our communities receive funding to ensure the safety of our local roads and bridges.

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations of greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations of greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
