A healthy tomorrow starts today! Marram Health Center held a back to school health fair Saturday morning at Indiana University Northwest. The free health festival celebrated the power of healthy families with free food, back to school supplies, music, face painting, games, and health screenings.
Matthew Burden, CEO of Marram Health Center, said that in the spirit of back to school, Marram was pleased to bring the community together for fun, education, and resources. For Burden, Marram Health strives to promote the wellness of the entire person. This enhances the quality of life.
“It’s not just about treating disease, it’s about treating a patient with their whole health,” Burden said. “Part of a patient’s health involves their community and knowing what resources are there for you to live a healthy lifestyle. Hopefully you won’t have to even come to the doctor!”
According to Etha Lasenby, Community Outreach & Insurance Enrollment Coordinator, the feeling of working together with partners and co-workers made for a beautiful event. The health fair takes a long time to plan and coordinate, and all of the efforts were worth it.
“I am excited to be able to give back to the community today,” Lasenby said. “We get together with different partners in the community to offer resources and offer assistance to families in need.”
Lasenby said Marram Health Centers provides all kinds of services for primary, behavioral, and dental health and works together with partners to make sure the entire person is treated.
“It’s better to work in partnership, and that way we can meet everyone where they are,” Lasenby said. “We want to make sure everyone has all the medical services that they need.”
