Interested in volunteering and not sure how to get started? Meals on Wheels invites interested candidates to attend our Volunteer Orientation and Training Session at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. A one-hour session will be held on Tuesday, August 12, at 10:30 a.m., and Thursday, August 21, at 1:30 p.m. The sessions are scheduled for one hour and applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the services we provide. Experienced drivers are encouraged to share information about their experiences as drivers in the community and for those who have never taken the tour to join us.
Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,500 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, volunteers are needed for all routes throughout Lake County. “However, at the moment, we are particularly in need in the Hobart community,” she said.
