Meet Mark Manaytrey, the plumbing professional who happily calls himself an employee of Hines Plumbing.
Mark is a Valpo native who has worked with Hines for about four years. He got into the trades in high school during a vocational program. He got his plumbing license in the early 1990s and has kept with the profession ever since.
“I like what I do, and working at Hines plumbing is fun. I like talking to the customers and I have a lot of regulars. It’s my way of getting social,” Mark said.
Mark is a certified backflow tester, so he tests the backflow preventers. A backflow preventer is a device that is installed on most commercial buildings and lawn irrigation systems. Its job is to keep contaminants from getting back into city water. The state requires that backflow preventers be tested once a year, and this is where Mark comes in.
One of Mark’s specialties is dealing with sump pumps, and water heaters.
“No one likes to have a flooded basement or a broken water heater. So I do a lot of fixing or complete replacing of them so our customers can rest easy,” Mark said.
Outside of work, Mark has two daughters who he tries to spend as much time with as he can.
“I love being with my family,” Mark said.
