The team that works at AMA Design & Print is a dynamic and friendly bunch. They work hard and love what they do.
Kathy Catherman is the Office Assistant at AMA Design & Print. A resident of Valparaiso, she is a sweet woman that takes care of inner office needs such as billing, answering the phone, etc. She came to AMA Design & Print from her previous job as a preschool gymnastics teacher. Recently, Catherman completed her first half marathon.
“My daughter worked here for her internship. She’s a graphic designer and was switching jobs after college,” Catherman said. “So I came here because I was looking for a change. I like it here. Everyone’s really nice and laid back.”
Brittany Young is the Graphic Designer for AMA Design & Print. She takes care of the layout for projects, which means that she prepares everything for printing. Young is a Purdue graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications and Graphic Design. She lives in North Judson with her boyfriend, Josh, and they are about to become proud first time homeowners. Young came to AMA Design & Print through a good friend and one of our Lady Lifers, Jenny Craig.
“Everything has to be put into a specific press sheet so that we can print them multiple up for each job that we do,” Young explained. “It’s my job to get everything ready to print. I really like working here. The people are great and the hours are awesome. It’s also nice because our customers come right in our front door so I get to see them face-to-face.”
Kelley Schott is the Office Manager for AMA Design & Print. He is the proud father of three (soon to be five with twins due any day) kids. Schott grew up in Kouts, IN and he went to Vincennes University and majored in Printing and graduated from Spring Arbor University.
“I do a little bit of everything. Design, sales, customer service, I oversee the daily workings of the office,” Schott said. “I love it here. It’s a great place to work with great management. The owner is a good guy.”
Ron Smith does Sales for AMA Design & Print. He came to the company in 1989 as a pressman and was moved to sales a few years later. He enjoys golfing, a hobby which he took up during his time in the service and then again years later from AMA Design & Print owner, Ernie Darr.
“I service a lot of customers that we have gained over the years and I’m always knocking on doors looking for new possibilities,” Smith said. “I like working here. Ernie’s a good guy. He takes care of us.”
Shad Harden is the Production Manager at AMA Design & Print. He works in the press shop and his duties range from press work to production control. Harden is originally from Michigan but now lives in Chesterton with his wife, two kids and their dogs.
“I came here after I graduated from Vincennes. My degree is in Print Technology,” Harden said. “This was my first job.”
And Steve Wenzel completes the team at AMA Design & Print. He does Bindery which means that he cuts stocks down, pads paper, assembles books, folds and boxes everything. Basically, Wenzel does anything that needs to be done to the flat sheet to make it the finish product. He is from La Porte and is an avid outdoors lover. He does backpacking trips, kayaking, hiking.
