New Collaborations to Help Students Experience Positive Outcomes

Glenda-Ritz-Visit-1State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz will visit the Gary Community School Corporation on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

The visit includes a tour of the West Side Leadership Academy located at 900 Gerry Street from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. A press conference takes place at 11:00 a.m. in the school’s auditorium.

Dr. Cheryl L. Pruitt, Superintendent of Schools, said Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, School Board President Rosie Washington, and other school district officials would join her.

“We know that educating students is vital to the sustainability and growth of our community,” said Dr. Pruitt. “Creating a collaborative educational environment can build a community of caring individuals who are all working towards one common goal: Increasing the students’ positive outcomes.

Pruitt said courageous and strategic conversations have started that is resulting in collaborations that will positively impact the future of students.

The State Superintendent’s visit will culminate with a tour of the Frankie Woods McCullough Academy for Girls from noon to 1 p.m. located at 3757 W. 21st Avenue.
