New Summer Six Wine Party event to support Northwest Indiana educational programs adversely affected by COVID-19

Porter County, IN – United Way of Porter County invites the community to take part in their Summer Six Wine Party event to support Northwest Indiana educational programs adversely affected by COVID-19.

This livestream, virtual wine tasting experience features an exclusive wine tasting with Chicago Restaurateur and Sommelier Yvonne Farina showcasing six wines from Victory Italian’s collection.

“This unique spin on the classic wine tasting allows individuals to participate from home and, even, host their friends for one ticket price,” said Kim Olesker, president & CEO of United Way of Porter County. “We can’t thank Yvonne and her team enough for helping us to raise support for local education programs.”

United Way partners with schools and area nonprofits to provide 15 education programs to help children and teens succeed. Programs range from pre-kindergarten in-school learning experiences to afterschool tutoring programs.

The Summer Six Wine pack experience includes six bottle of wines, pairing menu and access to the virtual wine tasting event with Sommeliers Yvonne Farina and Jason Wedner.

Virtual wine tasting event is to be held Tuesday, August 11 at 6 p.m. Contactless wine pack pick up begins week of August 3. Delivery services potentially available. Virtual event details and pairing menu will be provided to participants closer to time. Must be 21 years old or older to participate.

Certified Sommelier Yvonne Farina brings her passion for food and wine and her undeniable love for hospitality and the art of customer service into her business in her role as the Director of Operations for Victory Italian. She considers her many years in the restaurant business a work of passion. Prior to joining Victory Italian, Yvonne worked with some of the most legendary names in Chicago and has been at the forefront of operations for many iconic Italian restaurants over the last two decades, a skillset which is highlighted through her work with Victory Italian.

Jason Wedner is an experienced restaurant General Manager and Sommelier, who is known for his skill in analyzing menus and creating the perfect pairing with the wine selections that he curates. With his strong family food influences and traditions from his Sicilian and Polish background, Jason began his passion for food and wine in his childhood. Taking his knowledge and applying it to the many fine dining establishments he has had the opportunity to successfully grow and refine is all part of that passion. Jason is currently General Manager of Victory Italian, where he was instrumental in obtaining the restaurant’s 2020 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
