This summer, NIPSCO employees raised $20,200 to support local mental health organizations in the 2021 Charity of Choice campaign.
Charity of Choice is NIPSCO’s employee-driven, company-wide fundraising effort to provide a significant contribution of financial and other resources to benefit a cause chosen employees. Each organization must serve communities within NIPSCO’s service area, and have 501 (c)(3) status.
Employees donated to the cause by purchasing NIPSCO branded gear, or participating in two virtual events led by company executives Mike Hooper, NIPSCO President, and Violet Sistovaris, Executive Vice President and Customer Experience Chief for parent company NiSource. Attendees of both virtual events were able to participate in online auctions to raise funds, with all proceeds going to support mental health organizations in northern Indiana.
“Mental health is more important than ever, given the extraordinary year and a half of challenges most of us have never faced before,” Hooper said. “That’s why it’s so important to donate to our local organizations who provide care and resources to those going through mental health struggles and their families.”
The 2021 Charity of Choice funds raised are being distributed to the following organizations to provide resources for their mental health programs throughout northern Indiana:
Edgewater Behavioral Health Services (Lake County)
Their mission is to provide comprehensive physical and behavioral healthcare services for individuals and their families in Northwest Indiana. The organization specializes in culturally competent care specifically developed for each patient to help achieve goals and improve outcomes.
Mental Health America (Northwest Indiana, Northeast Indiana, North Central Indiana and Wabash Valley chapters)
Serving communities throughout Northern Indiana, the organization provides mental health educational programs and supportive services. Courageous Healing (Fort Wayne)
Courageous Healing supports those in need of mental health care in the Fort Wayne area, with a culturally responsive and diverse approach to therapies. Courageous Healing helps its patients navigate depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, anger, stress, relationships, and more.
Swanson Center (LaPorte County)
Swanson Center’s compassionate staff is dedicated to improving lives by providing comprehensive, expert mental health and addiction services. The organization provides the highest level of clinical care possible while meeting the needs of the community.
HealthLinc (Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Starke and St. JosephCounties)
HealthLinc, headquartered in Porter County with locations throughout Northern Indiana, delivers exceptional care by developing networks of integrated partners, highly trained staff, and diverse services to those in our communities.
