The Northwestern Indiana Telephone Company (NITCO) held an event tonight at the Valpo Chamber in an effort to bring people together and support community growth. The event serves as an opportunity for the NITCO team to reflect on the last year and look forward to the new one as well.
Tom Carroll, Senior Vice President for NITCO looks forward to the coming year.
“2016 was awesome because it was all about preparing for 2017, which we expect to be more awesome. It’s a lot of planning and it’s all going to pay off.”
Plans for 2017 are huge! NITCO plans to install more Internet fiber throughout Valpo, as well as Chesterton. Fiber is important because it drastically increases internet speeds.
"Fiber is a miracle product," says Carroll. "All it is, is a simple piece of glass that allows an incredible amount of data to be transferred, much more than anything else out there." It's amazing how much data can be transferred back and forth."
A partnership with Valpo Net is allowing them to provide fiber to more homes. There’s also another exciting surprise.
“We’re happy to announce that we're working with Skitter TV in order to begin offering voice, the Internet, and television,” said Carroll. They will make a full announcement in the spring, so be on the lookout for that!
The company is planning a beta system that will allow Valpo customers to receive the service and help them improve their systems to the best it can be through feedback.
NITCO is an important part of Valpo. They established WIFI downtown, and work with the Valpo Community to help host events like Brewfest. They recognize the importance of their customers and love working with them for the best talk, the Internet, and cable options.
NITCO is excited for the sixth annual customer appreciation day. It will be in August, and will include a block party! It’s a ton of fun, so be on the lookout for that as well.
