Northwest Health Donates More than 5,000 Jars of Peanut Butter to Local Food Pantries

To help address hunger throughout the region, Northwest Health collected more than 5,000 jars of peanut butter during its Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive in March.

All of that peanut butter was then donated to local food pantries including the PAX Center in La Porte,  Community Services of Starke County, and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana which will distribute the jars to food pantries in Porter County.

Why Peanut Butter? Peanut butter is one of the most requested items for food banks because it is highly nutritious and has a long shelf life. Unfortunately, many food banks in America report it is also one of the least donated food items.

“Food insecurity has a significant impact on a person’s overall health and wellbeing,” said Ashley Dickinson, Chief Executive Officer, Northwest Health. “And thanks to the tireless help of our team members and a generous donation from PButty Peanut Butter, we were able to exceed our goals to help fight hunger and positively impact the health of our community.”
