Joshua Sullivan is this year's valedictorian at Portage High School. His high school activities include National Honor Society as a junior and senior, the Cross Country team as a freshman and sophomore, and track as a freshman.
Josh was also on the recycling team for a while this year. He will be attending Ball State University in the fall and plans to work towards a B.S. in Zoology. He will also be utilizing a scholarship he earned from Ivy Tech this summer for 15 credit hours.
In Josh's spare time he enjoys an ongoing game of Dungeons and Dragons. A group of friends have kept the game going for about a year and a half. He also enjoys learning tricks, juggling, and learning to ride the unicycle he received for his birthday. His favorite food is chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
When asked who are his mentors, he said he admires Captain America because he is "good just for the sake of being good, with no ulterior motive," and David Lesich, his fifth-grade teacher who inspired him to do what he loves to do even if he isn't great at it. Josh said thanks to that advice, he was reading at an adult level by the end of fifth grade.
In 10 years, Josh hopes to be working at a zoo in rain or shine, even if it means little pay and living in a small apartment. He loves animals and feels it is his duty to protect the exotic animals.
