Portage Community Garden Seeking to Educate, Reinvigorate

SpaghettiWelcome to the Portage Community Garden! Our goal is to reinvigorate our community through growing flowers, plants, fruits and vegetables, and by donating our produce to existing local charitable organizations, such as the food banks. We promote a sense of community in our city, allowing people to come together using the Community Garden.

We want people to have a beautiful place to gather, grow, learn and share. We promote healthier life styles by providing a place to grow produce, get active, and get social. We believe with a little knowledge, people can learn to grow local food and feed their families healthier foods at a very reasonable cost. We believe the benefits of gardening reaches the mind, body, and soul, and we want to be a witness to this in our community.

Our Mission: Educating ourselves and others to become good stewards of our land. Enable people to grow fresh and healthy produce while learning earth healthy practices. Fostering community.

We are having our first fundraiser on February 24th, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Real Life Community Church, located at 3134 Swanson Road in Portage. The event is a spaghetti dinner, co-hosted by Fazoli's. Dinner includes spaghetti or fettuccine alfredo, unlimited bread sticks, salad, dessert and beverage for $9 in advance, $10 at the door. Kids are only $6.
