Come and worship, come and worship—worship Christ the newborn King! This Christmas season, Portage 1st United Methodist will be having 3 Christmas Candlelight Services celebrating the birth of Jesus.
The first Christmas Candlelight service is Sunday, December 23rd at 7:00 p.m. This service will be led by our band, SonDay Glory, and will feature many traditional carols with a new sound. If you are going to be gone or have other obligations on Christmas Eve, we encourage you to attend this service. Child care will be available.
The second Christmas Candlelight service is on Monday, December 24th at 8:00 p.m. This service will be contemporary in style led by a praise team of singers. Traditional Christmas carols will be sung as part of this service as well. Child care will be available during this service, too.
The third Christmas Candlelight service is at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, December 24th. This traditional "Service of Lessons and Carols" will feature music by our choir and our bells as well as some soloists. Due to the lateness of this service, child care will NOT be available at 11:00 p.m.
All three Christmas Candlelight services will have a message titled “The Collision of Worlds” told as a story and personal narrative. Additionally, each service will have the celebration of Holy Communion, candlelight and the singing of “Silent Night.”
