Portage H.S. Athletics Round-Up 03-10-14

INDIAN HEADMichigan City 64, Portage 49 (Boys Basketball)

The Indians saw their season come to an end over the weekend in the second round of sectionals at Valparaiso.

Luke Kizer had 15 points and Jordan Collazo added 13 for Portage in the loss. Michael Lattanzi contributed seven points and David Clegg pitched in six points and seven rebounds.

The PHS coaching staff and team would like to thank everyone for their support this year. It was a fun year!

Gymnastics Sectional

The Portage High School gymnastics team took third place at sectionals on Saturday at Chesterton High School. Danielle Solis was the all-around winner. Solis also took first in vault, beam and floor.

On Saturday, the boys track team competed at the third annual Indian Open at home. Top finishers included: Taylor Sebben – 3rd in hurdles, a first place finish by the 4 by 200 relay team of Taylor Sebben, Jared Nieves, Alec Burnett, and Lorenzo Wells; a first place finish by the 4 by 400 relay team of Tommy Martin, Xolomon Rosales, Alex Gunnum, and Lorenzo Wells. A 4th place finish in high jump from Rich Wilford, and a fifth place in long jump from Nathan Cherry. The team competes Tuesday at home against Valparaiso.
