Portage High School Business Professionals Travel to Indianapolis

PHS-Business-Professionals-Collage-2015On March 15-17, Business Professionals of America traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in state competition. Ms. Melendez (chapter advisor and district 1 coordinator) and Mr. Mikesell took 13 students to compete with 100 other students from around the state in subjects such as Accounting, Banking & Finance, Medical Office Procedures, Java, C++ programming and 100 other different business related subjects.

To qualify to attend the BPA state competition, students must finish in the top 5 of their event at district competition, which was held at Portage High School this past January.

At state competition, Matthew Stanish who also serves as the chapter president was honored as the chapter All-Star. Chris Schafer placed first in the state in the newly piloted SQL Database contest and 5th place for Java Programming. The administrative team of Derek Marshall and Nate Partin placed 5th in the state. Here are few of the photos from the event.
