YOU are invited to attend the Portage Kiwanis membership round-up that will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012. The club will be providing breakfast beginning at 7:15 am at the Portage campus of Porter Hospital in the cafeteria. Attendees will gain knowledge of Kiwanis on a local, state, and international level.
Indiana Kiwanians have been involved with Riley since the hospital was built in the 1920’s. Many local children use or have used the services at Riley. Kiwanis has raised money for Emergency Transport Vehicles, the helipad and the Simon Family Tower, to name a few projects.
Portage Kiwanians support many other organizations, such as, the Portage Food Pantry, Gabriel’s Horn and Jacob’s Ladder. The club has also been providing dictionaries to every PTS 3rd graders since 2007. The club is credited for starting Relay for Life in Portage and Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April.) The club also hosts a fundraiser in conjunction with the Easter Egg Hunt at Woodland Park. Proceeds from this event provide the Myron Fessler scholarships to PTS graduating seniors.
If you have ever wanted to give back to your community or help others, then consider joining us to find out what Kiwanis is all about.
If you would like to attend the round-up, please contact Shannon Burhans with an rsvp.
